Spiritual Warfare - The Armor of God

52 In this episode, I begin new teaching on Spiritual Warfare and specifically looking at the Armor of God.

The Scripture reference is Ephesians 6_10-18.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities, Against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints

Revelation 4:5
And from the throne proceeded lightnings, thunderings, and voices. Seven lamps of fire were burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.

Isaiah 11:2
The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.

As I have taught in previous lessons, you need to fight satan or any of his demons in the spiritual realm where God has given you mighty weapons.

53 In this episode, I continue to talk about the Armor of God, but I share a word God gave me during my prayer time.

The word was "surrender," and I go to the book of Exodus and the story of God calling Moses in the burning bush but specifically Exodus 4:2-4

So the Lord said to him, "What is that in your hand?" He said, "A rod."

And He said, "Cast it on the ground." So he cast it on the ground, and it became a serpent; and Moses fled from it.

Then the Lord said to Moses, "Reach out your hand and take it by the tail" (and he reached out his hand and caught it, and it became a rod in his hand)

This story shows Moses surrendering to God by doing as God commanded him. I'm sure Moses knew grabbing a snake by the tail was a bad idea in the natural world, but God was teaching Moses to surrender and trust Him.

Trusting God is the first step and a powerful lesson on surrender and if you want to be strong in the Lord and the power of His might. (Ephesians 6:10) you need to surrender to God.

We finish this episode in 2 Corinthians 12:10
Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

54 In this episode, I continue talking about the word God gave to me a couple of days ago, "surrender."

When Moses throws down his rod, and it turned into a snake. (Exodus 4:3)

Five Daily Prayers

I use a picture description of meekness using a wild stallion being "captured," and then the man "breaks" the stallion's will. The stallion was the same horse. It's still powerful, and it is still a leader, but it is under his master's hand.

Matthew 5:5
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

Another way to look at meekness maybe gentleness and kindness is also a characteristic of being meek, and it is how God describes Moses.

Numbers 12:3
Now the man Moses was very meek above all the men who were upon the face of the earth.

Moses wrote the above verse about himself.

Moses never defended himself against the children of Israel.

We need to be meek (humble) like Moses, and God will defend us against our enemies.

55 In this episode, I will continue to talk about surrendering, and I give my testimony about a prayer God used to "break me."

Romans 12:1
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

Revelation 12:11
And they overcome him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.

I use Gideon's story in Judges 7:16-22, where Gideon and his 300 hundred me defeat the Midianites with a clay pitcher, a torch, and a trumpet.

The fire represents the Holy Spirit, and when your vessel is broken, the Spirit inside of you can defeat what is coming against you.

56 In this episode, I finish talking about Gideon and use the example in Judges 7:16-22 to make a case for humbling yourself

Judges 7:16-22
Then he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet into every man's hand, with empty pitchers, and torches inside the pitchers.

And he said to them, "Look at me and do likewise; watch, and when I come to the edge of the camp you shall do as I do:

When I blow the trumpet, I and all who are with me, then you also blow the trumpets on every side of the whole camp, and say, "The sword of the Lord and of Gideon!"

So Gideon and one hundred men who were with him came to the outpost of the camp at the beginning of the middle watch, just as they had posted the watch; and they blew the trumpets and broke the pitchers that were in their hands.

Then the three companies blew the trumpets and broke the pitchers. They held the torches in their left hands and the trumpets in their right hands for blowing, and they cried,  "The sword of the Lord and of Gideon!"

And every man stood in his place all around the camp; and the whole army ran and cried out and fled.

When the three hundred blew the trumpets, the Lord set every man's sword against his companion throughout the whole camp;

Matthew 3:11
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry, He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.

With the picture of Gideon and the broken pitchers in your mind, think about how God can use you and flow through you if your "vessel" is broken.

satan is not afraid of you or me, but he is deathly afraid of the fire of God. (The Holy Spirit)

57 In this episode, I start by reading scriptures about what God's word says about being humble.

Go to our website to hear all the episodes in this series.
https://nodoubtonlybelieve.com/spiritual-warfare-the-armor-of-god/

James 4:6
But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

2 Chronicles 7:14
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Luke 14:11
For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.

Matthew 5:5
Blessed are the meek, they shall inherit the earth.

James 4:10
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will lift you up.

Proverbs 29:23
A man's pride will bring him low, but the humble in spirit will retain honor.

1 Peter 5:5-7
Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.

Therefore humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

I also talk about the fruits of the Spirit and the works of the flesh found in Galatians 5:19-23

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outburst of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just like I told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such there is no law.

58 In this episode, I move on to the next verse, Ephesians 6:11, and while teaching on this verse, I introduce to you the following verses.

Go to our website to hear all the episodes in this series.
https://nodoubtonlybelieve.com/spiritual-warfare-the-armor-of-god/

Genesis 3:1-5
Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?"

And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God his said, 'You shall not eat it nor shall you touch it, lest you die.'"

Then the serpent said to the woman, "You shall not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

John 8:32
"And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

Matthew 4:1
Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

And when He fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.

Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread."

But He answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.'"

Romans 8:1
There is therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

satan is very good at what he does, and if you and I are going to defeat him, we must use the word of God and fight in the correct "realm."

59 In this episode, I continue to prepare you to put on the Armor of God, and we continue our discussion on the "wiles" of the devil.

I highlight the way satan questions the word of God whenever he talks.

I read the scriptures where satan is speaking to help you see a pattern in the way he comes against God's word.

60 In this episode, I give another testimony about how God corrected me one day while driving to work to show how God speaks and to each of us and teaches us a lesson.

I use Ephesians 6:12,13 to show different levels of order in the spiritual realm, but I concentrate today on we do not war against flesh and blood.

Our battle is with satan and his horde of demons, not God's children. The story I tell you today pulls the curtain back on a day when God "corrected" me on calling His children "idiots."

In every believer's head, you have the opportunity to "hear" the voice of God, the voice of satan, and your voice.

God wants you to know your battle or problem is not coming from God's children, and everyone listening is a child of God.

Our battle is against demons and things we can not see.

We have three enemies we battle in this life: the flesh, the world, and the punk.

Your flesh or carnal mind: Romans 8:7,8 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh can not please God.

The world: James 4:4 ...know you that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

1 John 2:15-17

Do not love the world or the things of the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not from the Father but is of the world.

And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

The punkJohn 10:10

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy.

61 In this episode, I continue to teach on preparing yourself to put on the whole armor.

God has made it abundantly clear to me (and hopefully to you) before the armor goes on. You and I must be ready for the battle.

The battle is in the spiritual realm and, more specifically, in your soul. The battle is won in the Spirit and by the power of God's Spirit.

In the spirit realm, men are described or symbolized as trees.

Psalm 1:1-3
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.

He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season,
whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

62 In this episode, I remind everyone about one of the anchor scriptures for our podcast in

Mark 5:36
As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, He said to the ruler of the synagogue, "Do not be afraid; only believe."

Notice Jesus didn't let any time go for the words to "sink in" to the father of the little girl. You must be prepared to stand and let the word of God work. Your job, no fear, only believe. (sounds like the beginning of a terrific podcast 🙂

The story in the Old Testament God reminded me of in the Old Testament is found in 2 Chronicles 20:15-17

And he said, "Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: 'Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God's.

Tomorrow go down against them. They will surely come up by the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the brook before the Wilderness of Jeruel.

You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!' Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you."

God told King Jehoshaphat He would do all of the work. Their job was not to fear or be dismayed, only believe and put their belief into action.

Notice what happened next, Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all of Judah and Jerusalem did the same, and they worshipped the Lord (2 Chronicles 20:18)

2 Chronicles 20:20-25
So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper."

And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying:

"Praise the Lord, For His mercy endures forever."

Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. 23

For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.

So when Judah came to a place overlooking the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude; and there were their dead bodies, fallen on the earth. No one had escaped.

God took care of the enemy, and all that was left was to bring in the "spoil." and one final observation, there was so much spoil that it took them all three days to gather it all in.

The lesson today is to stand. Stand therefore.

63 In this episode, I apologize for taking so long to get to put on the whole armor of God.

God wanted me to slow down helps to bring a different look at the armor of God.

Ephesians 6:14-18
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.

King David, Gideon, and Joshua at Jericho all faced their enemies and God gave them all the victory. You and I need to trust in God daily but we need to do it with our armor on.

64 In this episode, I continue to teach on God's armor, and we finally get to discuss an item of the armor.

We dig into the belt of truth today and how you need to put this on and continue to fight. It is a daily battle to keep your belt on throughout your day.

Scriptures I use (to go with Ephesians 6:10-18) are John 14:6

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

John 8:32
And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

As you will learn, all items are essential to wear or weld, but if you lose the truth, you have already lost the battle.

65 In this episode, I talk about the breastplate of righteousness and how you and I receive right standing with God.

John 3:16 is a famous and maybe even a familiar verse in the Bible, but if you keep reading, Jesus tells you how to live your life with no condemnation.

John 3:16-18

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he is not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

You are declared righteous when you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Once you are declared righteous, you can put on the breastplate of righteousness daily with confidence walk through your life protected.

66 In this episode, I continue putting on the armor of God, and I've come to the shoes of the Gospel of peace.

I want to remind you why you and I are instructed to put on the armor because we are in a battle to the death. You are not going to get out of this world alive. Death is waiting for every person on earth.

Fear is running rampant in this world, but God has an answer. It's the Gospel of peace, and you are putting your Gospel shoes on every day. The Holy Spirit had Paul use the Roman soldiers' armor to help you, and I picture His armor.

Spiritual Warfare The Armor of God

If you haven't figured it out yet, you have an enemy who hates you and wants to steal anything you have. He wants to destroy everything important to you, and then he wants to kill you.

I call him "the punk" for a reason. Why would you ever invite someone like this into your home? The simple answer is you would not, but he is so slimy and deceitful he worms his way into your life.

Here is where the Gospel comes in; it sets the captives free. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:17)

The only way to set someone free from the punk is the Gospel.

Isaiah 52:7
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings the good news. Who proclaims peace, who brings glad tidings of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, "Your God reigns!"

Your job is to put on the Gospel shoes and be ready for the battle. Remember, this is a battle to the death, and you have people in your life who need to hear the Gospel.

2 Timothy 4:1-5
I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing in His Kingdom.

Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will keep up for themselves teachers;

And they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.

But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

You are a warrior for Christ, and you need to have your shoes on and be ready for battle daily.

In this episode, you will learn about the shield of faith.

Paul talked in 1 Corinthians 13:13 And now abide faith, hope, and love these three; but the greatest of these three is love.

Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

The enemy is here only to steal, kill and destroy your faith and he (or his demons) are shooting fiery darts at you and me.

God is with you always but remember Jesus told His disciples it was to their advantage if He left.

John 16:7
Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

Jesus has left and He has sent His Spirit back to and the Holy Spirit is everywhere all the time. Use these words to encourage yourself to take up your shield of faith and start blocking the enemy's darts.

68 In this episode, I take a break from putting on the Armor of God to take about Good Friday.

Today is April 2nd, 2021, and it's Good Friday ( I call it God Friday in the episode), and I use the example of the Rich young ruler to illustrate the reason Good, and God can be used interchangeably.

Mark 10:17-20

Notice the man dropped the "good" after Jesus said (I'm paraphrasing) either call Me God or call Me Teacher.

This young ruler could not call Jesus Lord because he showed him where he was trusting in something besides God. (his riches)

I wanted to give God glory on Good Friday. I hope you are ok with the break from the armor of God, but this was the biggest Spiritual Warfare battle of all time, and I thought it was appropriate to include it in this lesson.

69 In this episode, I finish up putting on the whole Armor of God.

Spiritual Warfare The Armor of God

Ephesians 6:17,18

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.

satan knows he can not defeat the word of God, and he will do everything in his power to get you to

Romans 8:1

There is therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.

In the final verse, Paul reminds you and me to pray always and to be watchful.
